First inventory of the composition and structure of the benthic macrofauna of the San-Pédro port basin’s darsine waters (South-West, Côte d’Ivoire)

Port activities such as ship traffic and dredging of port basin's sediment can impact biological communities the benthos, composition which remains unknown. Moreover, knowledge ivorian’s basin benthic fauna is concern to both scientists authorities in development their activities. This study carried out July December 2021, aimed provide first data on San-Pédro’s macroinvertebrates communities. For this purpose, four (4) sampling points were defined near new wharf central channel port. The measurements physical-chemical parameters darsine waters (temperature, salinity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen lead content) situ between 6 a.m. 8 using a multiparameter. Benthic collected with Van Veen bucket help two divers. indicated that oxygenated turbid construction area wharf. They salty, warm, rich channel. 39 species classified 34 families, 25 orders, 07 classes, 05 phyla. phylum mollusks (with 29 species) was most preponderant. distribution influenced by lead, oxygen, temperature. benthos populations lowly diversified fairly balanced organization.
